Before the After Dark Programming tools, here
is a GREAT site for 32-bit Windows Screen Saver Programming!!!
Here is what Windows Programmers need.
"After Dark 3.0 Software Development Kit (SDK)"
by Berkeley Systems.
The Official After Dark 3.0 SDK from Berkeley Systems. To recreate the subdirectories,
unzip with the -d option (e.g. pkunzip -d ad3sdk.zip).
"After Dark Programmer's Manual"
by Berkeley Systems.
This file contains the After Dark programmer's manual from the After Dark 2.0
manual. There are two copies. One in Rich text Format with all the
formatting information and one in plain text.
"Visual - Sample Visual C++ Module Development"
by James V. Signorile.
This is a sample setup example for those wishing to develop After Dark
Screen Saver modules under Visual C++ (16-bit). Just create a directory called
'visual' on your drive and copy all these files there. Then start
Visual C++ and go to the 'visual' directory and open 'visual.mak'.
Build the project, and the result will be a file called 'visual.dll'.
Rename this file to 'visual.ad' and copy it to your 'Afterdrk' directory (into
the appropriate subdirectory).
"After Dark 3.0 Custom Palettes"
by James V. Signorile.
A number of 3rd party After Dark (AD) Module developers (including myself!) have noticed
that modules they had created which involved creating and using a custom
palette were suddenly GPF'ing when AD 3.0 would wake up. These modules had
previously worked OK under AD 2.0. This text file is a set of steps for
properly handling custom palettes, which if followed, seem to clear up the GPF
problem.
"Source Code for writing After Dark Modules"
by Bill Stewart (SDi).
A demonstration of Sound and Animation techniques that are useful in making Modules for After Dark.
"New Animation Sample - After Dark (AD) Module Programming"
by Bill Stewart (SDi).
An Animation sample that demonstrates Bitmap handling, overlapping conditions,
Sound FX, and an Animated about box. Brought to you by Software Dynamics, the
developers of After Dark for Windows.
"Borland C++ Sample Source for AfterDark Modules"
by Berkeley Systems.
After Dark Module Sample Source Code in Borland C++.
ADCTL_H.TXT (Copy and save as ADCTL.H)
"After Dark 3.0 Control Header File"
by Berkeley Systems.
After Dark 3.0 Control (ADCTL.H).
This header file contains declarations used to remotely control the After Dark
engine V3.0x. Refer to the engine control documentation for more information.
You will also want to download AD3DSK.ZIP if you don't already have it.
ADCTL.H - After Dark Engine Control Header Copyright 1994 Berkeley Systems,
Inc. All Rights Reserved.
"Documentation for ADCTL.H"
by Berkeley Systems.
Documentation for ADCTL.H
You may also want to Download AD3SDK.ZIP if you don't already have it.
"After Dark Gestalt Codes"
by Berkeley Systems.
The "Gestalt Codes" is a text file describing the code that can be used to
turn off AfterDark from within an application, etc. Also included are "After
Dark Engine Facts". This code is meant to be embedded within the Application
Code of the Software that requires a change in the condition of AfterDark.

Here is what Macintosh Programmers need.
"After Dark (AD) 3.0 Software Developers Kit for Macintosh"
by Berkeley Systems.
This Berkeley Systems After Dark 3.0 Software Development Kit (SDK) includes a
Programmers Manual and a Programming example for Think C 5, 6, and 7,
Metrowerks C, MPW, and Pascal compilers.
"Macintosh Programmer's Manual for After Dark"
by Berkeley Systems.
Manual for Programming After Dark Modules. To be used with the Programming
Examples available here as PROGEX.SIT (below).
"Macintosh Programming Examples for After Dark"
by Berkeley Systems.
Examples of After Dark Modules in Think Pascal and MPW C. Use with the
Programmer's Manual also available here (PROGMA.SIT).
